Another way to see things…

We use our eyes to see all that this world has to offer.

That’s part of being human.

We are also equipped with another way to see.

Our Spiritual nature inside of helps us to see in a different way.

We cannot see the air we breathe, yet we take it for granted that it’s here.

We naturally take it for granted that when we flip a light switch the light will come on and when we put the key into the ignition the car will start.

This comes from FAITH.

We learn by doing and by feeling.

This is how we develop our spiritual eyes.

Now it’s a fact that we all crawl before we walk. So we cannot develop spiritual eyes overnight.

Like the air we breathe, light switch, and the key in the ignition, we build up a continued and familiar experience over time that allows us to believe it will work.

It’s the same with our faith.

We have to build on it and grow it so that we can rely on it in times of uncertainty…

Check your experience…

“In this book you read again and again that faith did for us what we could not do for ourselves.” Big Book pg. 70

Lord open the eyes of our hearts through building and growing our faith in You and Your Word, AMEN.

Don't judge a book by its cover...

Looks can be deceiving, especially when we allow our judgement to be based solely on what we initially see.

Perhaps it's different for you, but I have shared before how my magic magnifying mind likes to trick me into trusting the ideas it generates on its own just for me.

It pays to learn more of the story before we pass judgement.

Years ago when I was living and working at the Salvation Army, we had this very small man named Joe.

He walked funny and had a hard time finding words so it was easy to pass him by as another needy and hopeless cause.

However as I got to know Joe and hang out with him, our friendship grew and I learned that he was a powerlifter in the gym and before he had a stroke in his mid-20's, he was a college graduate with a promising career in engineering.

Joe taught me and others to use the gym safely and encouraged me to get my college education and pursue God's calling on my life.

I am glad I took the time to get to know Joe before he went home to the Lord.

He helped me a lot.

Any "Joe's" in your life where you don't know their story?..

"We let God be the final judge." Big Book pg. 70.

Lord open the eyes of our hearts so we can see those You send to us, AMEN.

"Do not judge according to appearance" John 7:24

We get out of it what we put into it...

Here is a twist of thinking I learned long ago that has not only helped me to grow as a person, and as God's kid, but also has helped me to be more in tune to the needs of others.

It’s very simple. Instead of seeing what I can get from every interaction I have with people, places, and things, I see what I can bring to it.

The feeling is amazing and the outcome is usually better than I expect, plus I have gotten to know people on a deeper level!

It changed my perspective and now instead of having expectations of how I think things should go, I now have blessed peace just looking to see how I can help.

Go on, give it a try and as always....

Check your experience…

"But be sure you are on solid spiritual ground before you start and that your motive in going is thoroughly good. Do not think of what you will get out of the occasion. Think of what you can bring to it." Big Book pg. 102

Lord, let us see what we can bring to a situation instead of always looking to see what we can get from it, AMEN.

"Here is a simple, rule-of-thumb guide for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you, then grab the initiative and do it for them.” Matthew 7:12
