The Advent of Joy

The third candle of Advent, a symbol of joy, invites us to celebrate the true happiness that comes from meeting, knowing, and following Jesus.

This world of ours is filled with hurt, disaster, pain, suffering, and evil.

The joy that Jesus offers is a beacon of hope, promising a better way of living and free from worldly clamors.

For me, and perhaps for you, it's not a fleeting emotion but a deep-seated peace that surpasses understanding.

As we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus, my prayer for you to  embrace this joy, a gift  we are freely given.

May it fill your heart, overflow into your life, and spread to those around you, bringing Advent warmth and light to this Christmas season.

“We found that God does not make too hard terms with those who seek Him” Big Book pg 46

Hey God, thank you for the JOY we receive through meeting, knowing, and following Jesus. Please Holy Spirit work through each of us to let Your JOY spread and cover those around us with Your Joy, Hope, and Peace. We ask and claim this in the name of Jesus, AMEN.

“The angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For today in the city of David a savior has been born for you who is Messiah and Lord.” Luke 2: 10-11

Have a blessed day Y’all!

We all use some form of DEPENDS!..

Yup, I said it!

While the adult diaper is a necessity for some folks, we all have something we DEPEND upon.

Think about it!

We depend on our employers to pay us for our work, our work to create the lifestyles we live, and even the light switch to turn on the light, just to name just a few.

What about our thought and spiritual life?

What are we using as a mechanism to allow us to depend?

Hopefully we have found a spiritual path that works.

My DEPENDS and in place and my faith allows me to rely on a relationship with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

What are your DEPENDS?..

Check your experience…

“It depends on us and on our motives.” Big Book pg 70.

Lord, thank You for showing us again and again that faith in You, seeking Your will, and trusting Your word brings us peace, grace, comfort, and joy, AMEN.

“Depend on the Lord; trust him, and he will take care of you.” Psalm 37:5

Have a blessed day y’all!

First things first…

There seems to be a natural order of things.

We first must learn to walk before we run.

Athletes practice over and over to gain the needed skills and endurance for their chosen sport.

Hopefully we learn to get along with others before we enter into long term relationships!

It’s the same with our spiritual journey.

In order to understand God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, we have to first seek His plan and will for us.

Maybe it’s different for you, but I have tried many times to get God to do things my way and it has never worked,

but when I set my wants and will on the side and seek His will for me, things turn out better than I could have even imagined.

How’s that working out for you?..

Check your experience…

"Each individual, in the personal stories, describes in his own language and from his own point of view the way he established his relationship with God.” Big Book pg 29

Lord, let us first seek Your will for us, AMEN.

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33

Have a blessed day y’all!
